Professional Instructors
Learn from two top level drivers:
Benkei Bruin – A respected figure in the drifting world, Benkei has spent over a decade developing drivers and refining his own skills across both sim and real-world competition. As head coach at Archerfield Drift Park for more than 7 years, he’s guided hundreds of drivers—from total beginners to seasoned competitors—through every stage of their progression.
A true pioneer of sim-to-IRL development, Benkei embraced racing simulators as a serious training tool long before it became mainstream. His coaching has produced real results, with students including D1NZ Pro and Pro-Am drivers, as well as elite sim racers transitioning to professional motorsport. Notably, he coached Matt Simmons, PlayStation Academy winner and ex-Nissan factory driver in the Blancpain Endurance Series, and Alex Gardener, who currently competes in GT3 for Aston Martin.
On the competition front, Benkei has earned multiple Top 8 and podium finishes across Drift Challenge Australia and Revolution GP. Most recently, he secured 4th place at Hi-Tec Drift All-Stars, driving Ben Odgers’ wild 2JZ S15 — a car he’d never driven prior to the event.
Archerfield Drift Park was where it all began.
It didn’t just shape Benkei’s driving — it shaped his vision. The track became his testing ground, his classroom, and his proving arena. It was also where he met fellow competitor Ben Odgers, forming a friendship rooted in competition, respect, and a shared obsession with Japanese car culture. That bond became the foundation for Drift Japan Tours, an operation built to give others the same life-changing experiences drifting gave them.
With deep roots in Japan, proven success as a coach, and years of hands-on competitive experience, Benkei is driven by one thing — helping every student unlock their full potential, fast.

The ying to the yang
Ben Odgers
Ben Odgers – Co-owner of Drift Japan Tours and founder of Kevin Bell Mechanical, Ben’s journey in drifting began at the legendary Archerfield Drift Park, where he first competed in 2017. It was here, under the harsh lights and high standards of grassroots competition, that Ben’s driving style and mechanical instincts were forged — and where his long-time friendship and eventual business partnership with Benkei Bruin began.
Turning pro in 2021, Ben quickly made a name for himself with his aggressive yet calculated approach. Over the past few years, he’s become a recognised figure in Australia’s top-tier drift circles, earning a string of standout results:
• Winner of Round 1 – Eastern Drift Championships
• Multiple podium finishes in Hi-Tec Drift All Stars
• 14th overall in his rookie season of the 2025 D1NZ Pro Championship
Behind the scenes, Ben is the driving force at Kevin Bell Mechanical — a respected performance workshop in Wynnum, QLD, where he and his team build and maintain high-performance drift and street cars. His personal S15, powered by a fire-breathing 2JZ, is just one of many competitive machines that have rolled out of the shop and onto the podium. From grassroots warriors to national contenders, Kevin Bell Mechanical supports drivers at every level.
Ben’s love for Japanese car culture, his dedication to building bulletproof cars, and his years of experience as both a competitor and builder are now core to Drift Japan Tours. What started as a friendship on the concrete at Archerfield has grown into an international operation — one focused on helping the next wave of drivers find their path through sim, track, and culture.
Whether he’s on the tools or behind the wheel, Ben Odgers is all in — committed to the craft, the community, and the culture that made him.
